StormPath Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 14, 2026
Overview
This policy explains what data StormPath uses while you navigate and how that data is handled. By using StormPath, you agree to this policy.
Data We Process
- Location data: used to show your position, build routes, and compute route conditions. On iPhone, location may continue briefly in the background so the map and route stay current if you lock the screen. Spoken turn prompts only play while StormPath is on screen. Location is not used for advertising.
- App diagnostics: app version, feature toggles, provider availability, crash reports, and performance data (Sentry) for support and reliability.
- On-device route learning data: frequent-route signals and activity dots, stored on your device.
- Device identifiers (Basic, iOS): if you allow tracking, AdMob may use the advertising identifier to show more relevant ads. You can tap Ask App Not to Track; the app still works and ads stay non-personalized.
Third-Party Services
Depending on your configuration and region, StormPath may request data from:
- Mapbox (maps, routing, traffic overlays)
- Apple WeatherKit (forecasts and alerts when enabled)
- OpenWeather (weather hints along route when enabled)
- Tomorrow.io (minute precipitation at your location and corridor / route forecasts)
- RainViewer (radar mosaic on the map when Rad is on)
- US National Weather Service, api.weather.gov (US weather alerts)
- Google AdMob (advertisements in the free Basic tier on mobile)
- RevenueCat (subscription status with Apple In-App Purchase)
- Sentry (crash and diagnostic reports)
- Anthropic Claude (Stormy). The phone turns speech into text. That text and a short summary of the current trip are sent to Claude so she can answer. The microphone is not streamed.
Requests to those services are subject to their own privacy terms and policies.
Advertising (Basic tier)
The free Basic version may show labeled advertisements from Google AdMob. Plus subscribers do not see ads. On iOS we ask for App Tracking Transparency before personalized ads. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are requested as non-personalized. AdMob may collect device identifiers and advertising data for ad delivery as described in Google’s policies.
How Diagnostics Work
The Support Diagnostics button creates text locally and copies it to your clipboard. If you choose to email support, your default email app opens and you decide what to send.
Data Retention and Control
- Frequent-route learning data is stored locally on your device.
- You can clear trail/learning data from the About panel.
- You can disable optional features (traffic, weather hints, voice, etc.) in settings.
